“公民社会与非营利组织概论”是在北京大学开设的全校公共通选课程。本课程旨在介绍公民社会的概念和基本含义、基本理论；培养北京大学学生对公民社会和第三部门的认识，引导和帮助北京大学学生在第三部门继续深造、学习和就业，获得有意义的个人和职业生涯；同时为学生提供社会企业、社会组织、社团等的相关概念的介绍。受我国社会环境的引导，北京大学的一些学生已经对公民社会和非营利组织领域有了初步了解，也有相当一部分学生曾经从事过社会工作，另外一部分学生则对该领域充满求知欲望和希望。中国公民社会发展的需要和北京大学学生的特点决定了在北京大学开设本课程的必要性。鉴于此，北京大学公民社会研究中心于2008年第一次开始开设“公民社会与非营利组织概论”课程。
该课程于每年第一学期进行，课程每周进行一次，每次课2学时，课程占2个学分。在学期伊始的选课阶段，报名学生人数每年约60人左右。

" Introduction to Civil Society and non-profit organizations " is a public course opened to all undergraduates of Peking University. The course aims to introduce the concept of civil society and basic theories about developments of civil society and the third sector in China. The course is to help Peking University students to continue their studies and probably their career choices in the third sector , and to obtain meaningful personal and professional lives ; while providing students with social enterprises, social organizations, associations and other related concepts introduced . Some of Peking University students have been on the field of civil society and non-profit organizations. There are a considerable number of students who have engaged in social work, and other students in this area have strong desire for knowledge and hope about civil society. Chinese civil society development needs the engagements of students from Peking University. In this view of point , Peking University Center for Civil Society Studies launched the first course of " Introduction to Civil Society and Non-Profit Organizations " in 2008.
The course is available in the first semester of each year , 2 hours one week, 2 credits one semester. We usually have about 60 students in a class. The students enrolled are from about 20 schools/departments of arts as well as sciences. Curriculum focuses primarily on concepts and theories, pre- theoretical description requires students to read books in the field , and write a 4000 words report . Courses focus on teaching the theory and practice about a 1:1 ratio . After theoretical part, students are divided into groups according to their interests, and are guided by supervisors to study and take part in practice. The practice program includes observing various social organizations, interviews. Students are also required to do a group exhibition in the end.
The evaluation of scores depends on attendance, reports, group presentations and peer assessments.

“公民社会与非营利组织概论”是在北京大学开设的全校公共通选课程。本课程旨在介绍公民社会的概念和基本含义、基本理论；培养北京大学学生对公民社会和第三部门的认识，引导和帮助北京大学学生在第三部门继续深造、学习和就业，获得有意义的个人和职业生涯；同时为学生提供社会企业、社会组织、社团等的相关概念的介绍。
理论讲授部分约占8课时，主要包括: 绪论：公民社会与非营利组织基本概念介绍及中国现实；国外公民社会的基本理论；中国公民社会的历史、现状与展望；国家与社会的关系；政府与社会组织的伙伴关系；社区发展与公共参与；社会创新与企业社会责任；国内外基金会与社会创新；非营利组织的内部治理；非营利组织法基本介绍；金融企业社会责任等等。
社会实践讲授约占4课时，主要介绍社会组织成功或失败的典型案例。例如：小额贷款：社会企业发展案例；中国扶贫基金会系列“心公益”案例；社会企业家的兴起；非营利组织的内部治理——以SEE为例；社区组织与社区教育——以北京冷泉村的“人间”项目为例等等。
学生实地社会调研安排在学期中，不占课时。
最后的小组展示约占4课时，每课时4个小组介绍自己的实践报告。
课程前期以课堂讲授和经典文献阅读为主，并分配学生完成读书报告，占一半的时间；安排学生参与北京非营利组织的实践活动，并准备小组期末成果展示与答辩，也大致占一半的时间。
成绩评定各项所占比重：考勤10%、日常作业（读书报告）20%、平时实践20%、小组期末成果展示与答辩40%、小组组员互评10%，五种方式共计100分。
考勤：全勤10分，缺课一次扣1分；
日常作业：不交作业者不给分，晚交者扣分；读书报告约计4000字，需通过阅读相关文献，介绍文献相关内容，并且根据内容发表自己的观点，只有文献内容的记一半分数，其余一半分数
