本课程拟以1949年为界，分别讲授20世纪前半期（1900—1949）、20世纪后半期（1949—1999）各50年间的中外关系史。
本课程将以教师的重点讲授为主，辅以学生的自学与研讨相结合的方式，在厘清20世纪中外关系的历史沿革和发展脉络的同时，着重分析晚清政府、北洋政府、国民党政府、共和国政府时期，对外关系上的主要事件、重要外交策略。
本课程的教学目的在于使学生在领略20世纪中外关系演变过程与全局的基础上，通过分析与比较，体认20世纪中国与世界的关系之复杂性与曲折性，以及现代中国走向世界的不平路程与必然轨迹，为思考与展望21世纪初期中国与世界的关系，打下历史认识的基础。

This course divides the history into the first and second halves of the 20th century by the year of 1949; the history of Sino-foreign relations in each of the 50 years will be presented separately.
The main body of this course is giving lessons, with self-reading and discussion. When clarifying the progress and development about the history of Sino-foreign relations, it will focus on analyzing the most important diplomatic incidents and policies in the periods of late Qing government, warlord government, KMT government and government of PRC.
The educational objective of this course is to know the overall situation and the progress about the history of Sino-foreign relations. On that basis, through analyzing and comparing, to know the complexity and intricacy about China and the world, to know the difficult progress from China to the world, and also to look forward the relations about China and the world in the 21st century.

第一讲 清末十年的中外变局（1900—1911）
第二讲 民国初年的努力与挫折（1912—1916）
第三讲 中国与第一次世界大战（1917——1921）
第四讲 国民外交与修约外交（1921——1930）
第五讲 国难之中的应变（1931—1937）
第六讲 中国抗战与第二次世界大战（1937—1945）
第七讲 中国的内战与世界的冷战（1945—1949）
下 篇 20世纪后半期（1949——1999），14学时。
第八讲 1950年代（1949——1956）
第九讲 1960年代（1957——1969）
第十讲 1970年代（1970——1978）
第十一讲 1980年代（1979——1989）
第十二讲 1990年代（1990——1999）
课堂讲授占60%；文献阅读10%、讨论、报告20%、学术讲座或教学参观10%。
平时成绩占60%（读书报告40%、研讨10%、出勤率10%），期末开卷考试占40%。
