智慧是生物的神经器官的一种高级的综合能力，包括感知、记忆、知识、理解、联想等多种功能方面。在生物演化的历史长河中，神经系统这一物质基础的不断复杂化赋予了生命体以越来越复杂、高等的智慧形式。那么，什么是智慧？智慧和智力的区别是什么？动物具有什么样的智慧？智慧是如何经过数亿年的演化而发展成为如今我们所具有的复杂形式？在个体水平上，智慧又是如何随着成长而发展完善的？以及，我们是否有可能基于人工智能技术创造物化的智慧？
带着这些问题，本课程将与对人与动物的智慧这一话题感兴趣的同学一起学习与讨论智慧的演化与发展、物种间智慧形式的比较及人工智能发展的未来。作为元培学院的新生讨论班，本课程也将通过带领学生进行阅读与讨论，以培养批判性思维，训练学术基本能力，并对于演化与比较心理学关于智慧的相关内容形成初步的了解。

Intelligence refers to the comprehensive ability of neural system in animals; its function includes perception, memory, knowledge, comprehension, association, etc. After hundreds of millions years of evolution, neural system has acquired its enormous complexity in higher life forms. In human beings, evolution has gifted us with the ability to think, to love and to live a valuable life. But questions remain about what is intelligence? How to distinguish intelligence from wisdom? What kind of intelligence animals other than human are endowed with? How is intelligence evolved? And is it possible that we can create materialized intelligence – that is, the Artificial Intelligence?
This course, as a member of the seminar projects for freshman of Yuanpei College, aims at developing students’ critical thinking and basic academic abilities by critical reading of books and articles on the evolution of intelligence。

第一次：智慧的内涵 【2小时】
课上讨论：什么是智慧；智慧与智力的区别与联系；不同学科对智慧不同层面的侧重。
第二次：生物演化与演化心理学 【2小时】
课上讨论：达尔文的生物进化论；演化心理学的科学性及应用性评估。
第三次：灵长类的智慧 【2小时】
课上讨论：动物的语言与意识；动物的合作；动物的工具使用。
第四次：动物园参观 【3小时】
参观后思考：人的智慧与动物智慧的差异与联系。
第五次：人类智慧的独特性 【2小时】
课上讨论：大脑的演化；人类的社会性：合作与利他；文化及其它。
第六次：智慧的个体发生 —— 微观层次的“演化” 【2小时】
课上讨论：个体发生的复演说；执行功能的发展；文化与个体社会化。
第七次：物化智慧 —— 人工智能 【2小时】
课上讨论：冷智能与热智能；人工智能的伦理问题。
