| 英文简介 |
1. To familiarize the students with the basic elements and tropes of Victorian novels with regard to structure, plot, character and rhetorical devices through intensive reading of the text.
2. To engage the students in a critical survey of the important transformations in society, religion, intellectual landscape, etc. in nineteenth century Britain.
3. To introduce to the students Eliotian realism and the relation between realism and moral construction.
4. To initiate the students to the basics of literary studies and academic writing.
