中国是一个古老的东方大国，在五千年的历史演进中，形成了独特的国家与边疆观念，版图与边界也多次变更。近代以来，中国曾经边患丛生，西方殖民者对我国的侵略大都是从边疆开始的。新中国成立后，中国政府制定了和平共处的睦邻外交战略，已经与周边国家解决了大部分的边界问题，为我国进行现代化建设创造了良好的国际环境。本课希望通过课程的介绍，使同学们对中华民族的演进、边疆问题的产生、新旧中国的边疆战略、以及主要的边疆问题有一个概论性与专题性的认识，并培养出对相关问题的独立思考；与此同时，通过介绍新中国的边疆战略，总结中国在维护主权统一与民族团结方面的成就与问题。 |
| 英文简介 |
Being the junction of Euro-Asia continent and the Pacific Rim has endowed China with unique geo-political significance. As a result, China has to face highly complicated borderland security issues and Ethnic Nationalism adopt a balanced strategy which focuses both on major powers and her neighbors. To some extent, China depends on good neighbor diplomacy to defend her sovereignty and to prevent Ethnic Nationalism in the borderland, such as in Tibet and Xinjiang. Neighbor countries also have special importance in China’s implementation of the Going Out Strategy and the Western Development Strategy.
This course will include many topics from China’s relations with its neiboring countries; we will also address some of the hot issues such as ethnic nationalism (especially the Tibet and Xinjiang issues), the East and South China Sea Disputes, North Korea issues and Taiwan issues.
This course will integrate geopolitics and foreign policies, Chinese history and reality,
Ethnic culture and religion, to give the students a broader and deeper understanding of China’s borderland and ethnic issues.

一、 教学目的：

本课希望通过课程的介绍，使同学们对中华民族的演进、边疆问题的产生、新旧中国的边疆战略、以及主要的边疆问题有一个概论性与专题性的认识，并培养出对相关问题的独立思考；与此同时，通过介绍新中国的边疆战略，总结中国在维护主权统一与民族团结方面的成就与问题。
教学方式与考试：
作为通选课，本课以教师讲授和同学随堂讨论为主，并配合部分录象资料；鼓励同学们多看书，多写小论文；研究方法重视历史与现实、外交与国际法的结合。
成绩评评定：期中小论文30分+期末考试60分+平时10分。
