中文简介 这是一门面向非英语专业学生开设的诗歌课程。按时间的顺序,介绍美国文学史上八位最具代表性的诗人,他们分别是坡、惠特曼、迪金森、弗罗斯特、艾略特、斯蒂文斯、普拉斯和毕晓普,侧重作品细读,同时结合诗人的生平以及所处的历史文化背景,力图阐明每位诗人其独特的艺术成就, 展现美国诗歌的发展轨迹。目的是激发学生对诗歌的兴趣,培养对英文诗歌的分析能力,提高学生的英文水平和文学素养。
英文简介 This is a poetry course intended for non-English majors, covering eight important poets: Poe, Whitman, Dickinson, Frost, Eliot, Stevens, Plath and Bishop. We shall do a close reading of the most important works by each poet, with due attention to their different life experience and cultural milieu. By the end of the term, students will be enabled to improve their analytical thinking skills while catching a glimpse of the variety, profundity, and originality of American poetry.

教学大纲 这是一门面向非英语专业学生开设的诗歌课程。按时间的顺序,介绍美国文学史上八位代表性诗人的作品,上起爱伦坡,下至毕晓普。侧重作品细读,同时结合诗人的生平以及所处的历史文化背景,力图阐明每位诗人其独特的艺术成就, 展现美国诗歌的发展轨迹。目的是培养学生阅读英文诗歌的能力,从而在不知不觉中提高英文水平和文化素养。
每两学时细读一位大诗人的作品,除诗歌外,还包括散文及相关评论。要求每次课前做好预习,积极参与课堂讨论。此课程无期末考试,但需做一次课堂报告,期中、期末各交一篇论文。
