中文简介   “影视中的英美文化” 选取影视作为观察和剖析英美文化的视角,以课后观影、课上共同赏析和讨论作为教学模式,从“皇室和阶级”、“文学经典”、“田园和绅士”、“保守和幽默”以及“爱情和家庭”五个方面探讨英国文化,从“个人主义和英雄主义”、“美国梦”、“校园”、“政治”、“大熔炉”以及“爱情和家庭”六个方面学习美国文化。本课程选取最具代表性的影视作品,并针对每个文化分项列出更多的作品,旨在帮助学生通过较为广泛地接触并重点分析英美有关影视作品,加强对英美文化的了解和分析能力,同时通过观影提高英语听力水平,并通过课堂演讲和讨论加强英语口语表达能力。
英文简介  This course surveys the British and American culture through watching and decoding British and American movies and TV plays. Each week, a representative movie or TV play will be assigned to students. During class in the following week, particular fragments will be watched and analyzed, after which students will be led to discuss the cultural meaning manifested by these video works. The British culture will be studied from 5 aspects: “the Royal family and monarchy”, “Literary classics”, “Pastorals and gentries”, “Conservatism and humor” and “Love and family”. The American culture will be investigated from 6 respects: “Individualism and heroism”, “American dream”, “Campus”, “Politics”, “Melting Pot”, and “Love and Family”. For each aspect more related movies and TV plays will be recommended, in order to widen students’ horizon and strengthen their understanding of the British and American culture. At the same time, students’ listening and speaking abilities are expected to be improved through watching movies and TV plays, and participating in class presentations and discussions.

教学大纲 第一,充实学生的英美文化知识。教师选取12个英美文化话题,并且负责介绍文化概况。每名学生选取一个具体话题做调查做展示。通过这些步骤,大家可以分享和扩充文化知识。

第二,学习通过影视作品来了解和介绍文化。这一点有两个层次,首先,培养学生们在观看影视作品时对期中蕴含的文化元素的敏感度和识别力;再有,在理解文化的时候,学生们能够列举影视作品作为例证。

第三,培养学生对文化的领悟力。通过调查和讨论,力求培养学生对文化特点和文化差异的理解,最终打破固有的思维,建立起开放的、客观的态度。

3. 课堂演讲:在开学的第一、二周把本学期要涉及的文化分项和周计划提供给学生,供他们选择课堂演讲话题。从第三周开始至第十五周,学生要依次进行课堂演讲
4. 课堂讨论:每次课都会有30-40分钟时间进行课堂讨论
5. 课堂分配:教师讲授约占课堂时间的30%,包括(1)共同观影时的讲解和评论;(2)学生课堂演讲后讲评;(3)给出课堂讨论核心议题,并引导和讲评学生的讨论。共同观影约占课堂时间的20-30%。学生演讲和讨论约占课堂时间的40-50%。
