This course is “historiographical”. In this course we will be reading our selected historians from classical Greece and Rome mainly as practitioners of the historian’s craft, considered historically, politically and philosophically. The students can get a wider and better understanding of western civilization through this course. |

本课程主要带领学生研读古代希腊和罗马史家的原著，通过具体的文本阅读来分析西方古代文明的特征和内在机理，使得学生通过重要的史学经典，从政治、历史、哲学、宗教等角度更为全面地理解和把握西方文明的发源。学生通过选修本课程，可以学习阅读和分析西方古代史学经典文本的技巧和能力。
