英文简介 As an introductory course, students will be exposed to readings, PowerPoint "lectures," and Harkness discussions on a broad array of relevant topics, issues, and controversies regarding American government. It is my expectation that students who complete the course will leave much better informed about the workings of American government, and that they will also leave with a deeper and more nuanced appreciation for the role of political analysis in understanding society at large.

While our primary focus will be the institutions and processes of American government (the Constitution, Congress, Presidency, Courts, etc.), the course also provides you with the "tools of analysis" needed in the study of politics in general. What is politics? What is power? Who gets what, when, and how? These kinds of questions transcend the exclusive workings of American government and can be applied to almost any subject or setting.
